Wild sunflowers glowed in the morning sun like yellow neon. As I ducked and dived around the collection, searching for the perfect many, or the more perfect ‘one,’ to photograph, I noticed a woman with an iPhone snapping photos of the flowers with her back to the sun.

“May I show you a trick,” I said. “If you let the sun shine through the flowers and photograph them while you’re facing the sun, they’ll light up for you like Christmas lights.”

“Oh yes, I know, but I want the direct light so I can photograph the delicate insides of the bloom.”

Yeah, I thought, I can’t judge someone’s approach because I don’t know their intention. We all choose our focus, and there’s beauty in every perspective.
